Windows 7 Compatibility and iTunes

One would have assumed that utilizing Itunes with windows 7 would be a breeze considering that it has the same code as its predecessor ‘windows vista’? However there has been a few hiccups with compatibility. For instance – Applying a firmware update to a Blu-ray drive may produce a windows 7 error, or getting your Iphone to sync correctly with Itunes.

Don’t despair – windows 7 has a troubleshoot application tool (undiscovered by most!) Below are quick tips for using it.

1/ Right-click on the application icon that isn’t working; followed by click on ‘troubleshoot compatibility’.

2/ You will find that Windows will attempt to detect compatibility issues, and give you two options: Try the ‘recommended settings’ and Troubleshoot program’. If the first option does not work, then try the second option.

3/ When Windows 7 responds to your selected settings, click the ‘Start Program’ option and see if that resolves the problem. Hopefully this should do the trick, then click ‘Next’ and prompt Windows to apply the settings ‘permanently’, if you are still experiencing problems -  then try again with different settings.

Apparently – iTunes.exe has been programmed to run in compatibility mode for older versions of Windows, and turning off compatibility mode of iTunes before you open it will save you a lot of trouble.
